THE ROLE OF THE PARISH PASTORAL WORKER
The role of the Parish Pastoral Worker is to assist in promoting the
pastoral life and spiritual welfare of the Parish by:
* Building community through quality relationships and pastoral care
* Promoting understanding of the Church and its mission
* Providing opportunities for various constituencies of people to
deepen their understanding of their Catholic faith
* Making links between the sacred and secular
* Encouraging individuals and the parish community to see the social
teaching of the Church as integral to their lives.
* Reaching out in welcome to newcomers, and to those marginalised by
society
* Working with Parish Pastoral Council in fulfilling its mission.
* Liaising with other Parishes in the Pastoral Area.
* Contributing to ecumenical and inter-religious encounter.
The Parish Pastoral Worker works in partnership with the priests and
pastoral council of the parish.
TYPICAL DUTIES INCLUDE:
* Developing Adult Faith Formation Programmes with an emphasis on
promoting lifelong learning and Christian living
* Co-ordinating faith development initiatives especially with young
adults
* Promoting understanding of the Church and its mission
* Co-ordinating Pre-Sacramental preparation programmes
* Developing active participation in the liturgy
* Working with teachers to resource prayer and liturgy in the parish
schools
* Supporting family prayer
* Participating in home visitation and working with parents and
families
* Building links between home, school and parish
* Being available and ?present? to individuals and their needs
especially the lonely, the sick and the bereaved.
REQUIRED:
* Excellent IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Strong planning and project management skills
* Good decision making and problem-solving skills
* Proven ability to work on own initiative but must also be a team
player
* A qualification or relevant experience in theology/ religious
education or equivalent.
* Relevant pastoral experience
* Current driving licence and the use of a car
The job will include evening and weekend work.

builder with leadership and organisational skills.
